St. Olaf earns assessment award

St. Olaf College is one of four institutions selected to receive a 2010 Award for Outstanding Institutional Practice in Student Learning Outcomes from the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). St. Olaf is the first baccalaureate liberal arts college to be selected as a recipient since the award was created in 2005.

Factors that CHEA considers for the award include how institutions articulate expected outcomes for academic programs, inform the public about expectations and success, and use the data for improvement.

With a membership of some 3000 degree-granting colleges and universities, CHEA is the largest institutional higher education membership organization in the United States. It serves as a national advocate for voluntary accreditation and quality assurance to Congress, the U.S. Department of Education, and the general public.
