Appellate court rejects attempt to overturn sale of WCAL

A Minnesota Court of Appeals ruling filed Dec. 29 effectively ended a legal challenge by opponents of the sale of WCAL to Minnesota Public Radio in 2004. The appeals court upheld a district court’s finding that opponents had waited too long in bringing suit and seeking redress. The district court also concluded that St. Olaf and MPR had acted properly in the sale of the station.



Bloomberg News names alumnus 'most-accurate forecaster'

A recent Bloomberg News survey has named Dean Maki '87 the "most-accurate forecaster" in his assessment of U.S. economic growth. Maki is the chief U.S. economist at Barclays Capital in New York.



St. Olaf earns assessment award

Four institutions have been selected to receive the 2010 Award for Outstanding Institutional Practice in Student Learning Outcomes from the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, including St. Olaf -- the first baccalaureate liberal arts college to be selected as a recipient since the award was created in 2005.
