2013-14 USITT-NBS Scholarships to Attend the National Conference in Fort Worth, Texas
March, 2014

Another great turnout for scholarship applications this year!  It’s so exciting to see so many students apply for an opportunity to help cover the costs of attending the USITT Conference.  Twelve applications were received this year and with NBS finances in good shape, the NBS board is electing to once again give out 2 NBS Scholarships this year instead of 1!
But first a little bit of recognition and thanks to help make the scholarships happen.  First I have to say ‘thank you’ to USITT, all of our NBS members, SECOA, and Norcostco/Stage Technology for making these scholarships possible.  Without the membership and corporate sponsorship we would not be able to offer the number of scholarships that we do and in an amount to truly help offset the expenditures of travelling to the annual conference.
Secondly I would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to our scholarship reading committee – Corey Shelsta, Jerry Kraft, Kit Mayer, Ricky Greenwell, and Todd Edwards – for taking the time to review all of the scholarship applications and accomplishing the difficult task of ranking the applicants.
Thirdly I would like to say ‘thank you’ to all of the students that applied for USITT-NBS Scholarships.  The opportunity to attend the annual conference is a wonderful one and we certainly wish that we could offer more money and more scholarships to help cover the expenses involved, especially in a year when the annual conference is so far away.
Lastly I would like to say ‘thank you’ to all of the faculty/staff that encouraged their students to apply for the scholarships.  Thank you for recognizing the value in student attendance of the annual conference and offering guidance to your students to help them get there.
