The Mens Basketball team took on Bethel College Wednesday, January 7th. The game was exciting with both teams staying close until the end, but Bethel came away with a 77-68 victory.

The game started with the Royals taking a 17-5 lead, but the Oles were able to cut the lead to five points with 9:37 left in the half. However, Bethel used some hot shooting to extend their lead to ten points by the end of the half. The Oles cut down their turnovers in the second half, and stepped up their defensive pressure, but were unable to come any closer than seven points and ended up losing 77-68.

Jon Butala (FY, West St. Paul, Minn.) had an impressive game, netting 19 points. Also scoring in double figures was Nate Lund (Sr. Mankato, Minn.) with 11 and Dane Huber (So. Northfield, Minn.) with ten. Lund and Huber both grabbed six rebounds apiece as well.

The loss is the fourth in a row for the Oles. Currently St. Olaf is 1-5 in the MIAC and 4-7 overall. They return to action on Saturday, January 10th at 3:00 pm when the Oles host Augsburg at Skoglund Arena.
