The Oles faced the University of St. Thomas on the road on Saturday, January 17th. The Oles were looking for their second win in a row, but St. Thomas dashed that idea, as they came out tough early and won the contest, 78-45.

St. Thomas won the tip-off and took control of the game early. At the midway point of the first half, the Tommies were ahead 18-2 and by halftime the Oles trailed 41-19.

In the second half, the Oles stepped up their defense and improved their play. Although St. Olaf did not gain on St. Thomas, they maintained the point margin through much of the second half by shooting over 80 percent from the free-throw line and playing tough defense to significantly decrease the Tommies shooting percentage. The Oles defense decreased the St. Thomas shooting percentage from 47.1 percent in the first half to 33.3 percent in the second.

Guard Molly Simon (Jr., Hudson, Wis.) led the Oles with 13 points and Holly Grimsrud (FY, Zumbrota, Minn.) added ten points. Jill Johnson (Sr., Butterfield, Minn.) had seven rebounds.

The Oles host Hamline University on Monday, January 19 in a 7:30 p.m. game at Skoglund Arena.
