Gustavus bounces Ole women

The Oles lost a tough one when they hosted the Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday, January 28. Inconsistencies in the Oles' offense and defense, helped Gustavus win the contest 89-60.

The Oles took the lead in the first minutes of play, but saw it slip away quickly. By the end of the half, the score was 48-30. The Oles did outrebound the Gusties 25-21, with Jill Johnson (Sr., Butterfield, Minn.) grabbing nine.

In the second half, the Oles came out and quickly cut the lead to 12, but the Oles missed shots and Gustie second shot opportunities brought Gustavus back to a commanding lead, taking the contest 89-60.

Johnson led the Oles with 16 points, 14 rebounds, and four steals. Molly Simon (Jr., Hudson, Wisc.) chipped in with eight points and five assists, while Sarah McBroom (Sr., Mora, Minn.) had career high three blocked shots.

The Oles go across town to play the Carleton College Knights on Saturday, January 31. Tip-off is at 1:00 p.m.
