The women's hockey team hosted the College of Saint Benedict on Saturday, December 6th. The Oles treated the home crowd to a 4-2 win to keep the Oles undefeated in conference play.

Early in the game, St. Benedict jumped ahead first, by scoring the first goal. St. Olaf had good opportunies but didn?t put any in the net as they took 14 shots on goal. The Oles went into the first break, down 1-0.

In the second period Kelsey Skogland (FY., Shakopee, Minn.) had the first goal of the game--also her first goal as an Ole. With two seconds left in the second period, Sarah Ray (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) fired a shot from the blue line. It was saved by the St. Benedict goalie but Lindsay Weier (So., Menomonie, Wi.) jumped on the rebound and lifted it over the goalie as the buzzer went off. The Oles went into the locker room with a 2-1 lead.

St. Benedict came back in the third period, to tie the game at 2-2. Weier notched her second goal of the game to give the Oles a 3-2 lead. With less than a minute left in the game, St. Ben's pulled their goalie and Maria Richardson (Fr., New Brighton, Minn.) scored an empty net goal, giving the Oles a 4-2 victory.

The Oles are 3-0 in the MIAC and 3-2-2 overall. Both teams meet again on Sunday, December 7th in St. Cloud for game two of the weekend two game series.
