Carleton nips St. Olaf women by seven points
December 11, 2003
The St. Olaf Oles hosted the Carleton College Knights on December 10. Despite a strong comeback in the second half, the Oles came up short, 69-76.
The Oles kept pace with the Knights for much of the first half, but found themselves down by nine points at the break. The Knights came out strong in the second half and took a commanding lead of 22 points, after only five minutes of play. With less than nine minutes left, Christine Schwictenberg's (So., Hopkins, Minn.) three-pointer sparked a 19-3 run, to put the Oles within three points with 1:26 left in the contest. However, the Knights capitalized on the Oles late game fouls and won by seven, 69-76.
Natalie Rigelman (So., Lake City, Minn.) led the Oles with 14 points, and Molly Simon (Jr., Hudson, Wisc.) followed with 11. Jill Johnson (Sr., Butterfield, Minn.) had ten points and ten rebounds, while Kelly Sweeney (Sr., Oakdale, Minn.) had ten points, six assists, and seven rebounds.
The contest was the final game of the year for the Oles. St. Olaf is back in action on Saturday, January 3 when they host St. Catherine at Skoglund arena at 1:00 p.m.
