Oles come back, but fall to Augsburg

St. Olaf came back from a 13-0 deficit in the second quarter, by scoring 24 unanswered points, against Augsburg on Saturday afternoon. The Oles took an 18-13 lead at halftime as both teams came out in the third quarter scoring six more points. Augsburg rallied in the fourth quarter, posting twelve straight points, to extend the lead to 31-24, the eventual final score.
Aaron Stinar (Sr., Coon Rapids, Minn) scored on a one yard run, to finish a 74 yard drive in six plays. The Oles scored on a two point conversion. On the next scoring drive, Nate Lund (Sr., Mankato, Minn.) caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Brian Senske (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) as the Oles took the lead 15-13. Late in the first half, Dan O'Malley (FY, St. Anthony, Minn.) kicked a 32-yard field goal to give the Oles an 18-13 halftime advantage.
The Oles scored in the third quarter, marching 33 yards in six plays, when Stinar scored his second touchdown of the game.
Senske completed 15-of-25 passes for 107 yards. Bobby Andrade (FY, Bell Gardens, Calif.) led the Oles rushing for 87 yards on 23 carries and Stinar had 64 yards on 15 carries. Lund caught four passes for 59 yards.
Defensively the Oles were led by Matt Bucka (Jr., New Hope, Minn.) with 11 tackles (eight solo), including two for loss. Andre Conner (So, Pensacola, Fla.) had eight tackles (one solo) while John Davis (So, Edina, Minn.) had seven tackles, four solo, and a sack.
The Oles fall to 1-1 in the MIAC and 1-2 overall. The Oles host Saint John's University for homecoming at Manitou Field at 1:00 p.m. on Sept. 27. The game can be heard on KDHL, 920 AM.
