September 30, 2003
The St. Olaf Women's Golf team hosted the College City Classic this past Sunday and Monday at Willinger's Golf Club, located just west of Northfield, Minn. Six MIAC colleges participated, including Augsburg, Carleton, Concordia-Moorhead, Gustavus Adolphus, and St. Thomas, along with the Oles.
The team was led by Naomi Schwegler (Sr., Albany, Minn.), who earned medalist honors the first day, with an 84. Schwegler finished the tournament in fourth place and earned MIAC Women's Golfer Athlete of the week as well. The Oles were also led by Stacia Polzin (Jr., Bloomington, Minn.) who turned in solid scores for the 36 hole event.
The women conclude the fall season with the MIAC Conference Championships, hosted by Saint Mary's College in Winona. The two day event will be held at Cedar Valley Golf Course, just south of Winona. Tee times begin at 10:30 on Saturday and the tournament will conclude Sunday with a 10:00 shotgun start. The Oles hope to finish within the top five in conference standings.
