Thomforde promotes multicultural affairs and diversity dean
April 9, 2003
Eida Berrio, dean for community life and diversity at St. Olaf College, now reports directly to President Christopher M. Thomforde. Previously, Berrio reported to the provost and dean of the college. She also sits on the president's cabinet of officers. "This change will provide additional support to the work of the Office of Community Life and Diversity," Thomforde said in announcing the appointment April 1. "Her responsibilities will remain essentially the same: to lead the diversity efforts of the college, serve as the Affirmative Action officer of the college and supervise the activities of Buntrock Commons."
Berrio came to St. Olaf in August 2000 in the newly created position. In promoting Berrio, Thomforde also asked her to help create a professional development program for St. Olaf staff and administrators.
