'Emily Klamm, come on down!'

Carole
April 21, 2003

St. Olaf sophomores Emily Klamm, Laura Taylor and Samantha Jensen and their friend Hilary Young drove 2,000 miles to spend their spring break with Bob Barker in Los Angeles. Once inside the television studio, the group got the attention of "The Price is Right" producers by singing "Um! Yah! Yah!," the college rouser. When interviewed, Klamm, of Mount Prospect, Ill., secured a spot on the program by convincing the producers that meeting Bob Barker was a lifelong dream. Once a contestant, Klamm went up against the audience favorite, a 92-year-old Canadian woman. Klamm came out on top, winning $24,398, a trip to Madrid, Spain, and an autographed picture of Bob Barker. "The Price is Right" episode with Klamm airs in the Twin Cities on Wednesday, April 23, at 10 a.m. on WCCO-TV, Channel 4.
