Oles win third straight

St. Olaf scored the first 22 points of the second half in a 84-71 victory over Northwestern College Monday night at the Ericksen Center in St. Paul. The Oles have now won three straight.

St. Olaf had four players in double figures in the win. Tim Nelson (Sr., Braham, Minn.) had 11 of his 19 points during the run, including two threes to lead the Oles (4-1, 1-0). Nelson was 4-of-6 from the arc in the game, and also added a team-high seven rebounds.

Ole forward Mike Ludwig (Sr., Blaine, Minn.) had 19 points as well, to go along with a career-high six assists. Justin Bonestroo (Sr., Stillwater) and Kevin Jaunich (Sr., Delano, Minn.) added 16 and 13 points respectively.

John Reeves had 16 points to lead the Eagles (3-5). Andrew Rykes had nine of the Eagles 21 assists.

St. Olaf had 24 assists in the game and just 12 turnovers.

The Oles led by as many as 11 in the first half. Northwestern battled back with an 18-8 run to close the first frame to tie the game at 38.

St. Olaf will travel to Winona Saturday for an MIAC contest with Saint Mary's University. The game is set for 1 p.m. and can be heard on the Mighty 920 AM, KDHL.
