Oles rebound, beat Carleton in overtime

Kevin Jaunich (Sr., Delano, Minn.)scored 18 points, going 8-for-10 from the field, in the Oles 75-72 overtime win over Carleton Wednesday night at Skoglund Athletic Center.
Ted Gonsior (So., Centerville, Minn./Centennial) sent the game into overtime with a three-point basket with 30 seconds to play. Gonsior finished with five points.
Mike Ludwig (Sr., Blaine, Minn.) added 17 points in the win. Two other Oles were in double figures. Tim Nelson (Sr., Braham, Minn.) had 13 and Justin Bonestroo (Sr., Stillwater, Minn.) 10.
First-year Dan Forkrud led the Knights with 22 points. Forkrud was 3-for-6 from the arc in the loss. Tanner Schieck and Scott Christensen added 15 points.
St. Olaf trailed by seven with just over five minutes to play, after Forkrud hit his third three. The Oles went on a 15-8 run to end regulation.
St. Olaf scored the first eight points in the overtime session. Carleton came within two points after three-point baskets by Christensen and Anthony Baquero.
The Oles are idle until next Friday, Dec. 20 when they host Crown College in a non-conference game. St. Olaf resumes conference play on Jan. 6 when they play Bethel College.
