On Sunday, December 8, the Oles traveled to St. Cloud to play game two of the series with the College of Saint Benedict.

The Oles got off to a rough start. At 10:44 in the first period, the Blazers scored and then again at 13:55 in the second period, establishing a 2-0 lead over the Oles. However, the Oles fought back. At 15:50 in the second, Britny Schultheis (So, Shoreview, Minn.) scored a power play goal with the assists from Erin Baxter (So, Rosemount, Minn.) and Kirsten Paulson (Fr, Moorhead, Minn.). At 18:36 of the second, Kayla Wente (So, Waterloo, Iowa) scored on a breakaway goal with the assists from Paulson and Schultheis.

Going into the third period with the score tied at 2-2, the Oles continued to step up their level of play. At 9:12 in the third, Kate Barnett (So, Burnsville, Minn.) scored with the assist from Wente, giving the Oles the lead. In a final attempt to tie the game, the Blazers pulled their goalie with one minute remaining in the game. At 19:21 in the third, the Blazers scored to tie the game and send it into overtime.

A five-minute overtime period was played, but with no scoring, the final score was 3-3. The Oles had a tremendous come back in the second and third periods as Ole goaltender Andrea Smith had a total of 28 saves for the game and the Oles put a total of 25 shots on goal. Wente was the leading scorer with two goals, and both a strong offensive and defensive effort.

The next game for the Oles will be a non-conference match up with the Hamline Pipers on Tuesday, December 10, at 7pm at the Coliseum in St. Paul.
