Fastpitch team comes home happy

The Ole Fastpitch kicked off their season March 23rd-March 28th at the Rebel Games in Orlando, Florida. The Oles improved one game upon last year's spring training record with a 5-3 overall finish for the week.

The team got off to a good start on Monday, March 25th, as they crushed Buena Vista 10-1 and then defeated Augsburg in non-conference play 7-4. On Tuesday, March 26th, the Oles lost to University of Wisconsin-Plattville 9-4. The Oles played three games on Thursday, March 28th. They edged Western Connecticut 3-2 win, but fell to Otterbein of Ohio 6-4 and lost to Manchester 5-4. The Oles finished up the Rebel games with two wins against Dubuque 4-2 and Ramapo 11-0.

Unfortunatley for the Oles, starting left-fielder Kendra Rick went down on the second day of action when going for a long ball at the fence that resulted in an ACL injury. Rick will be out for the season and will be greatly missed.

Highlights of the trip included superb competition, excellent weather, and a lot of fun team bonding experiences. The Oles game versus Bethel College tonight (April 3rd) is postposned until April 16th at Bethel. The contest set for April 4th at the University of Wisconson River Falls has been cancelled.

The Oles hope to resume action versus last year's co-MIAC champ St. Thomas on Saturday, April 6th at St. Olaf at 1:00 PM.
