Hoekstra wins prestigious award for contributions to early music

Gerald Hoekstra, professor of music history at St. Olaf College, has been awarded the Thomas Binkley Award for outstanding achievement in performance and scholarship in the field of early music. Hoekstra directs the St. Olaf Collegium Musicum, a student ensemble that performs music on historical instruments of the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque eras. He also directs the St. Olaf Early Music Singers. Hoekstra will be presented the award in June at the Berkeley Early Music Festival and Exhibition.
