The St. Olaf Women's Tennis team matched up against St. Catherine's College on Friday, March 1, at the Owatonna Indoor Club. St. Olaf came up on the short end in a grueling match with a 4-5 loss.
The Oles won three matches in singles play. Number two singles player Beth Erie (FY, Rochester, Minn.) started the Ole run with a 7-5, 6-3 score. Kristen Buchta (FY, Neenah, Wis.) won 6-2, 6-4 at number four singles and Yvonne Yang (Jr., Appleton, Wis.) won in a 10-5 tiebreaker at number five singles.
Kristen Buchta and Yvonne Yang again found success, this time in doubles play. Their effort resulted in their team coming out on top 8-4 and was the only win in doubles for the Oles. They went 1-2 as a team. The Oles are now 0-3 overall and 0-1 in MIAC play.
The Oles look forward to a good week of practice in order to get their first win of the season versus Concordia-Moorhead in Fargo, N.D. The match is scheduled for March 9 at 1:00 PM.
