Women still looking for their first win
March 11, 2002
The St. Olaf women's tennis team lost to conference rivals Concordia College on Saturday, March 9. Although the score was 8-1 in favor of Concordia, the Oles had many close matches in singles play.
The lone victory was by Yvonne Yang (Jr., Appleton, Wis.). Those players who lost in close matches (splitting sets and losing super-tiebreakers for the third set) included Kristen Buchta (FY, Neenah, Wis.) at number two singles, Jamie Brau (So, Arlington, Minn.) at number five singles, and Lindsay C. Johnson (FY, Verona, Wis.) at number six singles.
The Oles have yet to win a match this year (0-4), but have competed well. In addition, many of the younger players have gained valuable playing experience. The Oles look forward to a good week of practice in order to get ready for the University of St. Thomas. The match is scheduled for Friday, March 15 at 6:00 PM at the Owatonna Indoor Tennis Center.
