The St. Olaf men's tennis team won a close match with Concordia College Saturday, March 9th. The final score was 5-4 with many of the matches being closely contested.

The match started out with doubles and the Oles took two of the three doubles matches. The top doubles teams of Ted and Tom Nagel (So, Ottawa, IL) won a close 8-6 contest. The third doubles team of Brandon Hall (Sr., Dubuque, Iowa) and Matt Sobieski (Jr, Mahtomedi, Minn.) defeated their opponents 8-4.

The singles matches were split. Again, the Nagel brothers won both of their singles matches. Team captain, Karl Wilbur (Sr, Edina, Minn.) rounded out the wins for St. Olaf with a come-from-behind victory at number one singles with the scores of 6-7,7-6 (10-8). The other matches were all extremely close. They all split sets and went to super-tiebreakers for their respective matches. Yet, the Oles came out on the short end of those super-breakers. Those players were Brandon Hall, Dan Cohen (So, St. Paul., Minn.) and Tim Smith (Sr, Eden Prairie, Minn.).

The Oles are now 3-1. They place their conference rivals University of St. Thomas this Saturday, March 16, at 11am at the Owatonna Indoor Tennis Center.
