The St. Olaf women's basketball team (10 -10 MIAC, 12-11 overall) lost to the University of St. Thomas 81-39 on Saturday, February 9, at home. St. Thomas (17-3 MIAC, 19-4 overall) is currently in a three-way tie for first place in the MIAC, while St. Olaf is tied for sixth with Concordia.

The Oles struggled throughout the contest on the offensive end. They shot poorly from the free throw line (connecting on 4 of only 11 attempts) and from the field as well. In the first half, St. Olaf only managed to put 14 points on board, shooting a season-low field goal percentage of 19. While the Oles improved to shoot 35.7 percent in the second half, the Tommies field goal percentage for the half was 62.5 percent, which combined for a 51.6 percent total for the contest.

St. Olaf also struggled with turnovers, as they turned the ball over 29 times in comparison to St. Thomas' 19 turnovers. The Tommies also out-rebounded the Oles 44-22.

Sara Erickson (Jr, Cambridge, Minn.) and Jill Johnson (So, Butterfield, Minn.) both scored eight points for the Oles. Johnson also contributed five rebounds, while Kristy Larson (FY, St. Ansgar, Iowa) added four. The Oles continue to play without starting center Lori Enlund, who is sidelined with a back injury.

The Oles next play the College of St. Catherine on Wednesday, February 13, at home at 7:30 PM in an important conference contest, as St. Olaf is still in position to make the MIAC post-season playoffs.
