Reuniting the whole St. Olaf Women?s Track and Field team after many were traveling abroad, the women proved that they have the ingredients to have a successful season. The Oles were strong all across the board at the St. Mary?s Invitational as the women found success in each event.

Beginning the day with a strong showing in the field events, the Oles were well represented in each event. The throwers reunited where Amanda Jacobson (Sr., Iola, Wis.) finished 7th in the 20-pound weight throw and teammates Jennifer Levenhagen (So., Appleton, Wis.) and co-captain Emily Uzzell (Jr., Norfolk, Neb.) finished 4th and 6th respectively in shot put. Leah Dvorak (Jr., Elma, Iowa) and Sonja Moe (FY, Northfield, Minn.) finished 3rd and 5th in high jump while Dvorak also finished 5th in long jump. In long jump, Becky Peterson also finished in 4th place. The Oles were also strong in the triple jump where Levenhagen, Moe, and co-captain Sarah Beggs (Sr., Klamath Falls, Ore.) finished strong in 2nd, 5th, and 6th place. The Oles proved that the field event athletes only help strengthen this team.

Building from the energy of the field events, the Oles proved that they are tough on the track as well. Co-captain Megan Daymont (Jr., Northfield, Minn.) led the pack finishing first in the 400, and 1000 meter runs, setting new fieldhouse records in both events. In the sprints, almost every Ole set her own new personal record in the 55 and 200 meter dash. Sophomore Marit Grorud (Fremont, Neb.) and Junior Taryn Weakly (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished strong in 3rd and 4th in the 600-meter.

Senior Megan Call (Logan, Utah) returned to win the 800-meter and was second in the 1500-meter, while teammates Vicki Patrek (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn.), Erin Milway (FY, North Oaks, Minn.), and Kelly Boerner (So., Corcoran, Minn.) finished in 4th, 5th, and 6th places in the 800. In the 5,000-meter race, co-captain Brigid Franey (Sr., Lexington, Ken.) and Maren Flynn (Sr., Arcadia, Wis.) finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively. The last event of the day had nine teams of Oles running in the 4x400 relay. The "A" team won with another fieldhouse record time of 4:10.47.

The St. Olaf women travel to the University of Minnesota for the Parents? Day Open on Saturday, February 16. Events start at 11:00 AM at the Bierman Fieldhouse.
