On Wednesday, February 13, the St. Olaf basketball team defeated the College of St. Catherine 77-64, improving their record to 11-10 in the MIAC and 13-11 overall. The win puts the Oles in good position for a post-season playoff spot. The Oles are now tied with Saint Mary's for fifth place in the MIAC, with Concordia College just one game behind as the season winds down.

The Oles were in control throughout the contest and put some points on the board early, leading 40-22 at the half. After struggling offensively in the first half, St. Catherines improved to 47 percent shooting from the field in the second half. It wasn't enough, however, and the Oles hung on to their lead, shooting 39 percent after the break and holding a ten point advantage for the rest of the game. St. Olaf continued to dominate the boards, out-rebounding the Wildcats 53-33. The Oles committed only 11 turnovers while dishing out 15 assists.

Playing well for the Oles was Sara Erickson (Jr., Cambridge, Minn.), who scored 14 points and had four assists. Two Oles each had their first double-double of the year. Liz Woodrow (Sr., Aitkin, Minn.), recently moved to starting forward, scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while fellow post player Jill Johnson (So., Butterfield, Minn.) added 13 points and 12 rebounds.

The Oles face their cross-town rival, the Carleton College Knights, on Saturday, February 16, in their final regular season game. The game will be played at the Skoglund Athletic Center at 1:00 PM and can be heard on KDHL 920 AM. The MIAC post-season tournament begins Monday, February 18.
