Men sweep Bethel 9-0

The men's tennis team picked up their first victory of the season when they defeated Bethel 9-0 on Friday, February 15th. The Oles were triumphant at each position. All eight of the team members played and contributed to the victory. Karl Wilbur (Sr., Edina, Minn.) won 6-4, 6-1 at #1 singles. At #2 singles, Peder Thoen (Jr., Kolsas, Norway) won 6-4, 6-3 while Brandon Hall (Sr., Dubuque, Iowa) won 6-0, 6-0 at #3 singles. Ted and Tom Nagel ( So., Oglesby, Ill.) won their matches at #4 and #5 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-0 respectively. Dan Cohen (So., St. Paul, Minn.) won his #6 singles match by a score of 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles play, the Nagel brother?s won #1 doubles with a convincing 8-2 score. Wilbur and Tim Smith (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) won #2 doubles 8-2 while Hall and Matt Sobieski (Jr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) won #3 doubles 8-2 as well.

The men are currently 1-0 for the season and will play nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus Friday, February 22, at the Owatonna Racquet Club at 6:00 PM.
