Wednesday, November 14, the Ole women had their first conference match up against the Hamline Pipers in St. Paul at the Coliseum. With two goals from Sophmore Sarah Ray and one by First Year Kate Barnett, the Oles were able to beat the Pipers 3-2.

The Oles came out strong in the first period and out shot Hamline11 -10. Scoring for St. Olaf at 6:58 in the first period was Sarah Ray (So, St. Paul, Minn.). At 12:26 in the first period, during a four on four play, Kate Barnett scored her third goal of the season with the assist from Erin Baxter (FY, Rosemount, Minn.) making it 2-0.

Coming back from the first intermission, the Ray scored again for the Oles, unassisted on a power-play, early in the second period to push the St. Olaf lead to 3-0. Late into the third period, Hamline fought back with a goal at 17:12 and an unexpected goal that snuck in just before the buzzer. Even though the Pipers out shot the Oles 29 to 25, St. Olaf skated away victorious with great help from First-year goaltender, Andrea Smith (Burnsville, Minn.). Smith posted 27 saves for the night. The Oles will host Chatham College at 7:30 PM on Saturday, November 17 at the Northfield Ice Arena.
