Oles place in Cornell/ Matman Invite

Friday, January 18, the St. Olaf wrestling team traveled to Mt. Vernon, Iowa to participate in the two-day Cornell/ Matman Invitational.

Eleven schools were represented at this tournament including teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

The Oles performed well on the first day of the meet, advancing four of their seven wrestlers through to Saturday?s competition. Alex Morf (Jr., Mt. Vernon, IA) had a good showing in his hometown and first tournament of the season by securing a fifth place finish in the 149 lb. class. Gabe Koepp (FY., Rush City, Minn.) placed sixth in the125 weight class.

The Oles continue to be suffering from injuries, but Coach Ken Pratt is optimistic. "They are wrestling with more intensity," Pratt states, and insists, "if they keep this up, good things will happen."

Friday, January 25, the Oles will travel to Moorhead, Minn for the MIAC Dual Meet Tournament. The meet begins at 7:00 PM on Friday and 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 26.
