Ole wrestlers fall at River Falls over the weekend

The St. Olaf wrestling team traveled to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls to compete in the UW-River Falls Duals. The Oles took on tough teams from Concordia-Wisconsin, Luther College, Itasca Community College, and William Penn University.

Injuries have impaired the Oles lineup recently, putting many starters on the disabled list. Among the injured are both of the Oles? 125 lb. wrestlers, resulting in a forfeit at that weight class.

First-year wrestlers stepped into the other positions vacated by injuries and showed great potential through their hard work and stamina. Will Palmieri (Jr, Neosho, Mont.) went 3-1 to lead the Oles on the day.

Despite these efforts, the Oles could not come out on top. In their first match-up, Luther beat St. Olaf 47-3. Their next match-up was against Itasca and the Oles they fell again, 49-4. The young team lost to William Penn 47-0, and again to Concordia 42-9.

The next meet comes at 9:00 am on December 8, in Waverly, Iowa at the Dick Walker Invitational. The Oles look for improvement and recovery from injuries as they continue on with their season.
