The St. Olaf men's basketball team rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to beat Crown College 79-72 in a non-conference game Friday night, December 21.

Kevin Jaunich led five Oles in double-figures with 19 points. Jaunich, who played his high school basketball just minutes from St. Bonafacious at Delano High School, had three three-pointers and seven rebounds. The Oles fell behind in the early minutes and found themselves trailing by as many as 11 in the first half. The game would not be tied until the 33rd minute, when St. Olaf tied the game at 57. The last Crown lead was 71-70 with just under three minutes left.

Nate Lindholm of Crown led all scorers with 20 points, going nine-of-12 from the field. Jeb Johnson (Sr., Wadena, Minn./Wadena-Deer Creek H.S.) added 17 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Oles. Matt Hofkens (Sr., Neenah, Wis.), who left the game early in the second half with an ankle injury, had 14 points in just 19 minutes.

St. Olaf struggled throughout the game, shooting just 34.7 percent from the field compared to Crown's 51 percent. The Ole's inside duo of Mike Ludwig (Jr., Blaine, Minn.) and Matt Schlenker (So., Rochester, Minn.) had a rough night offensively, combining to go 3-of-25. However, Schlenker contributed eight rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals.

Ludwig and Tim Nelson (Jr., Braham, Minn.) were also in double-digits in the win, scoring 12 and 11 points respectively. The Oles out-rebounded the Storm 40-26, collecting 19 offensive boards to the Storm's six.

The Oles (6-3, 2-2) play their next game after Christmas at 7:30 p.m. on January 2 at Bethel College in Arden Hills. The game can be heard on the Mighty 920 AM, KDHL.
