Oles victorious over the Cardinals 1-0
November 2, 2001
On Wednesday, October 31 the St. Olaf men?s soccer team traveled to Winona to take on conference opponent Saint Mary?s University. The Oles entered the contest 3-4-1 in MIAC play coming off of a disappointing loss to Augsburg College.
In the first half, the Oles looked sharp and determined. The Oles created quality chances to score in the half but went into halftime with a 0-0 draw.
In the second half, the Oles controlled the pace of the game and looked strong. The Oles found the back of the net early in the half when Trevor Davies (FY., Waukesha, Wis.) volleyed a ball past the Cardinal keeper. Davies goal proved to be all the Oles needed as they went on to a 1-0 victory. Ole goalkeeper Ross MacMullan (Sr., Birchwood, Minn.) posted the shutout.
The win moves the Oles MIAC record to 4-4-1 with one game remaining in conference play. The Oles will next be in action at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 3 when they host cross-town, conference rivals Carleton College.
