Womens Basketball crushes Hamline in first conference game NOVEMBER 29, 2001 — The St. Olaf women's basketball team beat the Pipers of Hamline University by a score of 78 to 51 on Wednesday, November 28. The Oles, winning their first conference contest of the season in St. Paul, showed their depth and defensive ability, controlling the game throughout. Ole men win third straight game NOVEMBER 27, 2001 — Kevin Jaunich (Jr., Delano, Minn.) led four Oles in double figures with 16 points in St. Olaf's 74-70 win over non-conference foe Northwestern College of Roseville Ole Women beat the Norse 74-73 NOVEMBER 26, 2001 — The St. Olaf women?s basketball team beat Luther College 74-73 at home on Saturday, November 24, winning another close non-conference game to improve their record to 2-1. Mens Hockey splits non-conference weekend series NOVEMBER 26, 2001 — The St. Olaf men?s hockey team faced off against St. Norbert?s College and Lake Forest College on November 16-17 in the first of three series versus schools from the NCHA. The Oles lost 5-1 on Friday night to number two nationally ranked St. Norbert?s, but rallied for a 6-2 victory on Saturday afternoon versus Lake Forest. Women Oles lose tough battle with Simpson NOVEMBER 21, 2001 — The St. Olaf women?s basketball team lost to Simpson College in their home opener on Tuesday, November 20, dropping to a 1-1 record in non-conference play. Simpson, ranked fourth in the nation in the preseason polls, beat the Oles by a score of 72-83. St. Olaf men are victorious over Luther NOVEMBER 21, 2001 — The St. Olaf men's basketball team defeated Luther College 84-62 in a non-conference game Tuesday night, November 20, in Decorah, Iowa. The Ole women lose a hard-fought battle against Hamline 2-1 NOVEMBER 21, 2001 — The Ole women?s hockey team had an intense match up against the Hamline Pipers on Tuesday, November 20. The Pipers pulled out the win 2-1. Ole Women start the season with a win over Buena Vista NOVEMBER 20, 2001 — The St. Olaf women?s basketball beam traveled to Buena Vista University in Iowa on Saturday, November 17 for their season opener. The Oles, winning the game by a score of 65-63, showed balance and depth in their first contest with 13 players seeing the floor during a game that was tight until the end. Ole swimmers compete with the Nation's Elite NOVEMBER 20, 2001 — Select members of the St. Olaf swimming and diving team traveled up to the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center this past weekend for a three-day invitational. The meet consisted of teams from the Big Ten Conference, along with various other Division I teams. Seven new St. Olaf College regents, five returning regents ratified by ELCA NOVEMBER 20, 2001 — St. Olaf College announced that the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) ratified seven new members of the St. Olaf Board of Regents. Five other St. Olaf regents were ratified for second terms. Cole, Fulton compete at Nationals NOVEMBER 19, 2001 — Despite not qualifying as a team, St. Olaf sent two individuals to compete at the NCAA Championships in Rock Island, IL on Saturday, November 17. Oles rebound to beat Thiel NOVEMBER 19, 2001 — Jeb Johnson (Sr. Wadena, Minn.) had 24 points, including four of seven from three point, leading the Oles to a 93-76 win over Thiel College (Pa.) in the Consolation Game of the Lutheran Brotherhood Capital Classic. Ole Men drop opening game at Capital NOVEMBER 19, 2001 — Tony Ruberg and Geron Tate scored 15 points each, leading Capital University to a 77-61 win over St. Olaf in the opening round of the Lutheran Brotherhood Capital Classic in Columbus, Ohio. Womens cross-country compete at Nationals NOVEMBER 19, 2001 — The St. Olaf women?s cross-country team cruised to a 22nd place finish this past weekend at the NCAA Championship Meet in Rock Island, Illinois. The Ole women entered the race seeded 22nd, proving that the caliber of this team matched their own expectations but did surprised many others in reaching this race. St. Olaf Percussion Ensemble to perform, Thursday, Nov. 15 NOVEMBER 15, 2001 — The St. Olaf percussion ensemble, under the direction of music faculty member David Hagedorn, will perform on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 8:15 p.m. in Urness Recital Hall, Christiansen Hall of Music on the St. Olaf College campus. The performance is free and open to the public. Jazz concerts to be performed on Friday, Nov. 16, Sunday, Nov. 18 at St. Olaf College NOVEMBER 14, 2001 — St. Olaf College?s Jazz Band classes will perform on Friday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Pause, located in the Buntrock Commons on the St. Olaf campus. Both concerts are free and open to the public. Mens Hockey splits weekend series with Hamline NOVEMBER 13, 2001 — The St. Olaf men?s hockey team gained a split with the Hamline Pipers this weekend, losing by a score of 6-4 on November 9 in St. Paul but rebounding with a 7-3 win in Northfield on November 10. Oles give it their all against a tough Gustavus team NOVEMBER 12, 2001 — The St. Olaf men?s and women?s swimming and diving team traveled to St. Peter, Minn. on Friday, November 9, to compete against conference rival Gustavus Adolphus College. The Oles had some phenomenal swims and stepped it up a notch, but unfortunately the Gusties depth was too much, and both of the teams lost. Ole women qualify for Nationals with 4th place finish at Regions NOVEMBER 12, 2001 — The St. Olaf women?s cross country team is once again taking the energy and excitement of the season and will be traveling to the NCAA Division III Championships in Rock Island, Illinois. Womens hockey split games with UW-Eau Claire NOVEMBER 12, 2001 — On Friday, November 9, the Oles won their home opener against the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds. Their first win of the season came as a result of extremely hard work and tough play by all. Ole men finish fifth at Regions NOVEMBER 12, 2001 — The black and gold harriers raced to a fifth place finish at the Midwest Regional Championships held Saturday in Grinnell, Iowa. The finish sent the Oles home without one of the four-team bids to the November 17 NCAA Championships held in Rock Island, Ill. Knights Edge Oles NOVEMBER 12, 2001 — The St. Olaf and Carleton wrestling teams initiated their seasons Saturday, November 10, with a close duel meet that was decided in the very last match. The lead changed hands several times throughout the duel, but the Carleton Knights came up victors 27-25. Oles lose last game to Gusties 51-21 NOVEMBER 12, 2001 — The St. Olaf football team closed out their season with a disappointing loss to Gustavus Adolphus College 51-21 on Saturday in St. Peter, Minn. St. Olaf College Band Day to be celebrated Nov. 10 NOVEMBER 8, 2001 — NORTHFIELD, Minn. ? Mens Hockey lose, tie against Cobbers in season opening weekend NOVEMBER 7, 2001 — The St. Olaf men?s hockey team opened the 2001-2002 season this past weekend against the Concordia Cobbers, losing by a score of 7-3 on Friday night and tying 3-3 on Saturday afternoon. Oles win finale over the Carls 1-0 NOVEMBER 7, 2001 — On Saturday, November 3 the St. Olaf Men?s Soccer Team hosted conference rivals Carleton College. The Oles entered the contest with a 4-4-1 MIAC record, while the Knights of Carleton entered the match with a MIAC record of 4-5-0. Womens swimming wins first meet NOVEMBER 6, 2001 — The Ole women dominated the meet as they took first place honors in all 16 events. The final score of 156 to 50 reflects the Oles? depth of talent. Womens Hockey loses two to UW-Eau Claire NOVEMBER 6, 2001 — St. Olaf Women's hockey team opened their season this weekend by traveling to UW-Eau Claire and taking on the Blugolds. In spite their losses, the Ole women are off to a promising start. St. Olaf will face the Blugolds again this weekend, November 9 and 10. Oles keep the Goat Trophy NOVEMBER 5, 2001 — The St. Olaf football team extended their winning streak to three games while maintaining their possession of the fabled "Goat Trophy" this past Saturday as they beat Carleton 28-6 at Manitou Field. In addition to their current seasonal winning streak, the Oles (6-3, 5-3 MIAC) also extended their winning streak against the Knights (0-8, 0-9 MIAC) to 5 games. Oles lose to Bethel in MIAC final NOVEMBER 5, 2001 — The MIAC Conference Tournament became a roller coaster for St. Olaf?s volleyball team going from beating St. Thomas to a very close loss to Bethel. The Oles did not gain an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament, but they did bring home a feeling of overall satisfaction for the season?s performance. Oles finish the season with a 5-2 win against the Wildcats NOVEMBER 2, 2001 — The Oles were able to find the net five times in Saturday?s game against the College of St. Catherine. St. Olaf started the game with high intensity, applying solid pressure to Wildcat?s defense. It wasn?t until the 17th minute, however, that the Oles scored their first goal. Oles victorious over the Cardinals 1-0 NOVEMBER 2, 2001 — On Wednesday, October 31 the St. Olaf men?s soccer team traveled to Winona to take on conference opponent Saint Mary?s University. The Oles entered the contest 3-4-1 in MIAC play coming off of a disappointing loss to Augsburg College. Oles drop to Augsburg 2-1 NOVEMBER 2, 2001 — On Thursday, October 25 the St. Olaf men?s soccer team hosted Augsburg College. The Oles entered the contest with 3-3-1 record in conference play. |
