Oles drop to Augsburg 2-1
November 2, 2001
On Thursday, October 25 the St. Olaf men?s soccer team hosted Augsburg College. The Oles entered the contest with 3-3-1 record in conference play.
In the first half the Oles started strong creating many scoring chances for themselves. Unfortunately for the Oles, Augsburg found the back of the net on two opportunities before half. Being down 0-2 at halftime, the Oles still felt confident that the game would turn in their favor.
In the second half the Oles pushed hard and had a flurry of opportunities. The Oles could not tally a goal until late in the half when Ben Clymer (Jr., Hudson, Wis.) struck a ball past the Augsburg keeper. The Oles pressed for the equalizer, but it did not come. The game ended 2-1 with an Ole loss.
The loss moves St. Olaf MIAC record to 3-4-1 with two games to play in the conference schedule. The Oles will next be in action at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, October 31 when they travel to Winona to play conference opponent St. Mary?s College.
