Oles Lose Opener 3-1

On Wednesday, September 5, the St. Olaf men's soccer team traveled to Des Moines, Iowa to play non-conference opponent Grand View College. The end result was a 3-1 loss for the Oles.
Grand View scored three times in the first half putting the Oles on their heels with a 3-0 deficit at the half. The Oles came out of halftime looking to get back into the game. Ben Clymer(Jr., Hudson, Wis.) tallied his first goal of the season with an assist from Gaute Johnsen(Jr., Akershus, Norway) midway through the second half. The Oles pressed and created some quality chances in the second half. Unfortunately the Oles could not find the back of the net.
The 3-1 loss puts the Oles 0-1 for the season. The team will next be in action at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 8th when they face non-conference opponent Marian College. The game will be at Rolf Mellby Memorial Field on the campus of St. Olaf College.
