Womens Cross Country Competes at Luther All-American Invitational
September 10, 2001
The young Ole women's cross country team traveled to Luther College and raced against some of the best teams in the country. The Oles finish seventh in the tough opening invitational. Luther won the meet followed by UW-LaCrosse and UW-Parkside. Junior Megan Daymont (Northfield, Minn.) and Senior Brigid Franey (Lexington, Ky.) led the team finishing third and fifth respectively with excellent first meet efforts. They were followed by a crew of sophomores, Marit Grorud (Fremont, Neb.), Kjersten Johnson (Steven's Point, Wis.) , Britt Carlson (Stillwater, Minn.) and First Year student Rebecca Baker (DesMoines, Ia.). Senior captain Allison Hales (Glenview, Ill.) was also in the top seven.
The Oles are in a rebuilding stage after "reloading" for years. The young team is working hard with hopes of closing the gap between the second and third runners and pointing towards great performances at season's end.
The top 20 Oles will compete at Grinnell's Les Duke Invitational at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 15.
