St. Olaf Mens Cross Country Takes 2nd at St. Johns Invite

The Olaf Men?s Cross Country team returned from the St. John's Invitational with a respectable second place finish in the nine-team field. The black and gold harriers finished a distant second to Division II South Dakota State University, but outpaced a tough St. John's squad, which placed 19th at last years' national meet and finished 2nd in the MIAC.
Senior tri-captain Andrew Cole (Sr., Mankato, Minn.) led the way for the Oles, with a 6th place finish. Cole was then joined at the finish line by a tight pack of five Ole runners, who crossed the line within 40 seconds of each other. The Oles placing in the top fifteen included Peder Arneson (So., Montevideo, Minn.)in 9th, Mark Sullivan (Jr.,West Bend,Wis.)in 10th, Joel Tortomasi (Jr., Beloit, Wis.)in 13th, and Christopher Coffey (Jr., Dubuque, Ia.) finished 14th. Two First Years, Kelly Fulton (Billings, Mont.) finished 16th and Malcolm Richards (Minneapolis, Minn.) finished 20th, helping to round out the Oles? top seven.
The Oles will lace up at the Midwest Open in Kenosha, Wis. at 11:00 AM next Saturday, September 15th, and will host the St. Olaf Invitational at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 22nd.
