Ole Volleyball Sweep the Gusties

The Oles Volleyball team hit the road to match up against Gustavus Adolfus College this past Wednesday, September 19. The women held their record to an undefeated status by winning the match in three games. It was a match of solid volleyball skills and execution.

Throughout the match, the Gusties put up a strong left-side attack, but to no avail. Oles Katie Allenson (Sr., Champlin, Minn.) and Nicole Trnka (Sr., Morristown, Minn?Bethlehem Academy) dug every shot they attempted, accumulating 21 digs together. Not only were the digs going up, but the team was also running a quick and varied offense with Trnka hitting .464 with 14 kills during the match. Together the team put an offense out on the court to win the match and increase their record to 10-0.

The first game was spirited and quick, with a score of 30-16. During the second game scrapiness was the key to success. As the Gusties stepped up their push to win, the Oles kept picking up everything and dishing it right back; the score was 30-20. And in the final game, the Oles integrated the knowledge of how to win and pure intensity to capture the match with a final score of 30-25.

All in all, the Oles are moving their season along spectacularly, continuing an undefeated status. This weekend the Oles are at home for two matches. The first game is at 7:30 pm on Friday, September 21 against the Concordia College Cobbers. The second game is at 3:00 pm Saturday, September 22 against the College of St. Benedict?s Blazers The junior varsity will be playing on Friday at 6:00 pm and again on Saturday at 1:00 pm. Take the opportunity to see the Ole Volleyball team at home and cheer the women on to another victorious weekend!
