Racing in the midst of the season, the Ole Women?s Cross-Country team defined themselves as a threat within the MIAC conference. As a team composed of many first-year runners, youth and inexperience was overcome by the strength and depth of the team. In a race on Saturday, September 22 with 210 women competing for the best times on the St. Olaf course, the Oles fought tough and found themselves within the top three teams with a spread of only seven points on their home course. With a tie between Concordia-Moorhead and University of St. Thomas with 63 points, the Oles were a close third to the other MIAC competitors scoring seventy points. Leading the Oles was junior co-captain, Megan Daymont (Northfield, Minn.) establishing herself as the second overall finisher and thirteenth on the "Top 50 Best Times on the St. Olaf Course". Following close behind was senior co-captain Brigid Franey (Lexington, Ky.) finishing fourth overall and establishing herself on the "Top 50" list. Rounding out the overall top ten was Marit Grorud (So., Fremont, Neb.), but she was followed by many other phenomenal Ole women performances. Finishing out the top seven for the St. Olaf women, were Britt Carlson (So, Stillwater, Minn.), Kjersten Johnson (So, Stevens Point, Wis.), Kate Boeding (Sr, Potsville, Ia.), and Maren Flynn (Sr, Arcadia, Wis.).

In spite of several injuries, the Oles competed to the best of their ability proving the depth of this team on their home course. Many runners accomplished multiple personal records and achievements showing the strength of this team in bridging the gaps between packs, a trait that the women Oles are noted for within the MIAC.

The Oles will split the team for the next competition. The top runners for the St. Olaf women will compete the Pre-National meet at 4:00 PM, Friday, September 28 in Rock Island, Illinois while the remaining team members will run at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 29 at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota.
