The St. Olaf women?s golf team had a busy week with two meets. The first was at Northfield Golf Course on the Wednesday, September 19. St. Olaf invited Carleton to play in a fun, 9-hole meet, which was on the back nine at the course. Leading St. Olaf was Naomi Schwegler (So. Albany, Minn.) with a score of 39. She was followed by Abby Sprenger (So. Kiester, Minn.) who shot a 41. Other scores included two 43?s and two 44?s. Using the top 4 scores, St. Olaf shot a 166 beating Carleton by 31 points. Both schools enjoyed the match because the entire teams were able to play instead of just 6 players for each squad.

The team also competed at the Luther College Invitational Tournament at Oneota Golf Course in Decorah Iowa on Saturday, September 22. A total of 16 teams were present from all over the Midwest. St. Olaf finished 6th out of the 16 teams with a total score of 360. Leading the team were two players, Schwegler and Sprenger, both having shot an 88. Jen Moore (Sr. Chaska, Minn.) shot a 90 and Heather Mattson (Jr. Maple Grove, Minn.) shot a 94. Also playing were Liz Hunt (Fr. Moline, Ill.) who tallied a 108 and Johanna Savage (Fr. North Oaks, Minn.) with a 104.

The team is hoping for a victory this weekend. They will play at 12:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, September 29th and 30th in the Macalester Invitational Tournament at Mississippi Dunes Golf Course in St. Paul. St. Olaf will battle Macalester, Carleton and St. Mary?s College.
