Internationally known pianist Donna Lee to give recital, masterclass at St. Olaf College

NORTHFIELD, Minn. ?Internationally renowned pianist Donna Lee will perform a guest recital at St. Olaf College on Friday, April 6, and will hold a masterclass Saturday, April 7.
The recital will be at 7 p.m. in Urness Recital Hall, Christiansen Hall of Music. The masterclass will be at 1:30 p.m. in Studio A of Hector R. Skifter Radio Building. Both the program and masterclass are free and open to the public.
Lee?s program will include "Kinderscenen, Opus 15" (Scenes from Childhood) by Robert Schumann, "Virtuoso Alice" by David del Tredici, "Fairy Tales, Opus 26" Nos. 1 & 2 by Nikolai Medtner, and selections from Cinderella by Sergei Prokofieff.
American pianist Donna Lee made her solo debut in 1990 with the National Symphony Orchestra. She has since appeared as a soloist and collaborative artist at Kennedy Center?s Concert Hall and Terrace Theater in Washington, D.C., and Lincoln Center?s Alice Tully Hall in New York City. She also has performed in Beijing, China; Merano, Italy; and Stockholm, Sweden. She has toured Japan as the guest artist of East Winds Quintet, and has performed at the Gotland Chamber Music Festival in Sweden.
She has been heard in broadcast performances over radio stations in Washington, D.C., Michigan, Cleveland, Ohio, and Sweden, as well as on Voice of America in the Far East. She has recorded for the Proprius, Vanguard Classics (Europe) and Oxford University Press labels.

Lee earned a doctor of music arts from Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, a master of music degree from Juilliard School and a bachelor of music from the University of Maryland, College Park, where she studied with prominent artist-teachers Julian Martin, the late Rudolf Firkusny, and Thomas Schumacher. She has taught at Peabody Conservatory and Bucknell University; during the summers, and is on the piano faculty at Interlochen Arts Camp. She joined the music faculty of Kent State University in fall 1999.
