The St. Olaf Women's Track and Field Team competed in the All-Lutheran Track and Field meet hosted by Augustana in Sioux Falls, South Dakota this past Saturday. Despite the incredibly windy conditions the Oles had strong performances throughout the meet.

Sophomore Megan Daymont (Northfield, Minn.) ran away from the field and won the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:00.13. Junior Brigid Franey (Lexington, Ky.) had an outstanding double, winning the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:56.88 and finishing in fifth in the 1500. Junior Amanda Jacobsen (Iola, Wis.) braved the tricky weather conditions and finished first in the pole vault with a vault of 6'6".

Also running strong for the Oles was first-year Becky Peterson (Plymouth, Minn.) who placed sixth in the 200 meter dash, fourth in the 100 meter hurdles and second in the long jump. First-year Kelly Spitzely (St. Paul, Minn.) finished in eighth place in both the 100meter and 200 meter races. St. Olaf had three women place in the 400 meter dash; first-year Marit Grorud (Fremont, Neb.) finished fourth, sophomore Dawn Mielke (Arlington, Minn.) ran to a sixth place finish and first-year Abby Love (Appleton, Wis.) tied for seventh. Seniors Katie Storlie (St. Louis Park, Minn.) and Anne Sateren (Minneapolis, Minn.) finished in fourth and seventh in the 800 meter run, with junior Maren Flynn (Arcadia, Wis.) finishing in eighth. Sateren also placed sixth in the 1500 meter race. Senior Margie Tilman (St. Louis Park, Minn.) ran a great race and finished in fourth in the 1500 meter run. First-year Britt Carlson (Stillwater, Minn.) finished sixth in the 3000 meter race.

The Oles competed well in the field events. Sophomore Leah Dvorak (Elma, Iowa) finished in third place in the high jump. Junior Sarah Beggs (Klamath Falls, Ore.) jumped to fifth place in the long and sixth place in the triple jump. Jennifer Levenhagen (FY, Appleton, Wis.) placed fourth in the discus and eighth in the shot put. Levenghagen's discus toss is the third best throw in St. Olaf history, and is just a few feet shy of national qualifying.

The Oles will compete at home at 3:00 on Thursday, April 12 and at 9:00 on Saturday, April 21 in the Manitou Classic.
