Christian-music band Smalltown Poets to perform at St. Olaf College May 4

NORTHFIELD, Minn. ? The Christian-music band Smalltown Poets will perform at St. Olaf College on Friday, May 4, with an opening performance by the group Cadet.

The event, in the Pause of Buntrock Commons, is open to the public, and church and youth groups are especially invited to attend. Doors to the Pause will open at 7 p.m., and the concert will start at 8 p.m. Tickets ($8) are available in the college?s Student Activities Office in Buntrock Commons, or can be reserved and pre-paid by check by calling (507) 646-3999.

Small Town Poets is a Christian band that performs "alternative" music with Christian lyrics. The band?s latest album, "Third Verse," was nominated for the Best Rock Gospel Album Award in the 2001 Grammy Awards competition.

Cadet, the opening group, is a fast-rising Oregon band that describes its music as "power pop."

St. Olaf College prepares students to become responsible citizens of the world, fostering development of mind, body and spirit.
