April 18, 2001
Though their squad was significantly smaller due to Easter Break, the St. Olaf men's track and field team traveled to Gustavus Adolphus on Good Friday hoping for some top performances. Sophomore Gaute Johnsen (Norway) automatically qualified for the MIAC championships in the 400 meter race, clocking 51.29 to take 8th.
Pole vaulters Eric Droher (Jr., Owatonna, Minn.) and John Gensmer (So., Mounds View, Minn.) braved the elements to tie for seventh place. Their height of 4.11 meters was the best Ole performance this outdoor season.
Corey Dingels (Jr., Gibbon, Minn.) grabbed the day's lone victory for the Ole thinclads, tying for first in the high jump with a leap of 1.97 meters. He also teamed with Noreen, Matt Johnson (FY, Richfield, Minn.) and Gaute Johnsen to take seventh in the 4X100 (43.74).
