St. Olaf Women's Tennis 1-1 at Mankato Indoor Tournament

The St. Olaf Women's tennis team participated in the Mankato indoor tournament on April 21. The Oles dropped their first match to the University of North Dakota, and took home a win over Minnesota State-Mankato.
The Oles put up a fight against UND, with three of the seven matches going three sets. The Oles No. 5 singles player Lindsay Gorham (Jr. Wenatchee, Wash.), posted the win of 6-1, 5-7, 6-3, but St. Olaf dropped the match 1-6 to UND.
Only one of the three doubles matches was played on Saturday against UND. The No. 1 doubles team of Rebekah Van Wieren (Sr. Holland, Mich.) and Alyssa Derksen (Sr. Appleton, Wis.) played a close match, but the win went to UND with a score of 8-6.
St. Olaf took a 7-2 win over MSU, winning 5 of 6 singles matches and 2 of 3 doubles. The singles matches were taken in dominating fashion, most of which posted wins in two sets. No. 1 singles, Van Wieren won 7-6, 7-5. No. 2 Janelle Sagness (So. Mankato, Minn.), No. 3. Derksen, No. 4 Jamie Brau (FY. Arlington, Minn.), and No. 5 Gorham all posted wins for the Oles, as did the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams.
This split brought the Ole Women's season record to 11-4. The Oles play at home at 3:30 on Friday, April 27 against Nebraska Wesleyan.
