Ole Fastpitch Drops Doubleheader to Macalester

The Ole fastpitch team fell to Macalester College in Saturday?s MIAC action, 3-1 and 5-4. With the bases loaded, two outs and the game tied 1-1 in the sixth inning; the Scots picked up two runs to secure a 3-1 win in the first game.

In game two, Sarah Cherry (Sr., Faribault, Minn.) got things going for the Oles with a lead-off triple. Amanda Ista (Sr., Northfield, Minn.) brought Cherry in with an RBI single to put the Oles on top 1-0. In the bottom of the inning the Scots scored four unearned runs to take a 5-1 lead.

Neither team would score again until the top of the seventh when Andrea Hatleli (Sr., Austin, Minn.) received a lead-off walk. With two outs Christy Boraas (Sr., Madison, Minn.) singled and with runners on second and third, Kirsten Haaland (So., Billings, Mt.) singled to bring the score to 5-2. Kelly Frederick (So., Wayzata, Minn.) followed with a double to score Boraas and Haaland and the Oles were within one at 5-4. With Frederick on second and two outs, the Scots retired the side to pick up the 5-4 win.

The Oles are 5-19 overall (1-11-1 MIAC). St. Olaf will travel to Bethel College on Monday, April 30 for a 4:00 doubleheader. On Wednesday, May 2, the Oles will host their final home game of the season at 4:00 against Augsburg College. The Oles final game of the season will be at 1:00 on Saturday, May 5 at Carleton College.
