The Oles came out on top Sunday, April 29 with a sweep over the Luther Norse. The games served as the final doubleheader against the Oles for Luther's long-standing coach, Paul Solberg, who is in his final season as the head coach. The afternoon games were followed by a barbecue put on for both teams by the parents.

The Oles scored runs in all but one of the innings and claimed 22-10 and 23-15 victories. The high scoring games may have been a result of high-powered winds, but nonetheless, the Oles stroked out 46 hits and combined for nine home runs on the afternoon.

In the first game, the Oles scored in every inning, but the fifth and were lead by Casey Coulson (Sr., Rosemont, Minn.), and Dan LaManna (Jr., South St. Paul, Minn.) who each belted out four hits. Brian Sprout (Jr., Lake City, Minn.), Nick Beissel (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.), and Lars Finanger (Jr., Decorah, Iowa) each tallied up three hits in the winning effort.

In the second game, the Oles offense continued to spray the ball around the field, as they put runs on the board in every inning.

Leading the way for the Oles was LaManna who stroked out five hits, combining for a total of nine on the afternoon. Sprout blasted out three more hits, including two home runs, and Brad Baglien (FY., Mounds View, Minn.) and Mike Ludwig (So., Blaine, Minn.) added three hit performances as well.

With the two non-conference wins, the Oles increase their record to 21-7 overall (12-2 in conference play). The Oles will finish their regular season with three home doubleheaders against St. John's University, Concordia College and the University of St. Thomas. The first of the three will be against St. John's on Wednesday, May 2 at 2:30 at Mark Almli Field.
