Oles Fall to Bethel
January 4, 2001
Despite the heroic efforts and point production from Mike Ludwig, the Oles dropped their fifth straight at Skoglund Center, Wednesday night. Bethel defeated St. Olaf 72?68. The Oles are now 2-6, 0-4 in MIAC action.
Ludwig scored 39 of the Oles' 68 on 15 of 22 shooting from the floor. Bethel was led by Andy Gilbert who chipped in 18 to lead the way for the Royals who with the victory crossed the .500 mark for the season, 4-3 and 2-1 in MIAC play.
A scrappy first half found the Oles trailing 32-31 at the intermission. The Oles fate was sealed with Gilbert hitting a 3 three-pointer with less than a minute left. For the game the Royals were 8 of 16 on three-pointers which was a key factor in their win.
The Oles travel to St. Paul to face Macalester in their next contest. Tip off time is 3 o?clock on Saturday, January 6.
