Oles Nip Hamline

The St. Olaf men earned their first MIAC victory Monday night at home beating Hamline 71-65 in overtime. The win leaves the Oles with a 3-7 mark, 1-5 in MIAC action while Hamline drops to 0-9 and 0-5.
Sophomore, Mike Ludwig, led St. Olaf with 30 points. Ludwig also snared 10 rebounds. Senior captain, Ryan Olson contributed 15 points. Hamline was led by John Simonsen with 12 points.
At the halftime intermission the Oles trailed 33-27. After the break the Oles quickly narrowed the margin and the teams traded leads down the stretch. When the horn sounded to end regulation the teams were knotted at 62.
The battle in the overtime was won at the charity stripe. The Oles went 7 of 11 and the Pipers went 3 of 5. This couple with the Oles making one from the field while holding Hamline to 0 for 7carried the day.
The Oles do not get any rest and will travel to meet St. John?s in MIAC action at Collegeville on Wednesday. A 7:30 tip off is scheduled.
