Great Results for St. Olaf Racers at International Federation of Skiing Races.
January 25, 2001
Members of the St. Olaf College Alpine Ski Team participated in a series of races sanctioned by the International Federation of Skiing last week. On January 18th and 19th three of St. Olaf's men, and dozens of nationally and internationally ranked skiers, participated in two days of Giant Slalom competition at Lutsen Mountain. St. Olaf's Joachim Rasmussen won both of these races in impressive fashion. St. Olaf's Casey Charlson (11th and 8th) and Nate Gruys (6th and 7th) had great results as well.
On Saturday and Sunday (January 20th and 21st), the full team participated in two days of Slalom racing at Spirit Mountain. Joachim Rasmussen finished 2nd and 4th in these races. Other team members finished as follows: Casey Charlson (7th and 7th), Nate Gruys (9th and 9th), Josh Kinzer (6th and 8th), Emily Nelson (14th and 9th), Sarah Nelson (12th and 15th).
This successful competition follows wins in races hosted by the Midwest Collegiate Ski Conference on the first two weekends of the month.
