Ole Volleyball MIAC Tournament Champions

Led by Nicole Trnka's (Jr., Morristown, Minn.) match high 28 kills, the Oles defeated MIAC Champions St Mary's University 3-1, to gain an automatic berth to the NCAA Volleyball Championship.
The Oles won the first two games 15-8, 15-10 and had match point in the third, but lost 16-14. The fourth game of the match found the Oles down 1-7 early, but came back to tie it up at 12. The Oles went on to score the next three points and win the MIAC Tournament.
Shannah Olson (So., Elk River, Minn.) and Christina Moses (Sr., New Brighton, Minn.) had 19 and 10 kills respectively and Brie Mattson (So., Anoka, Minn.) had a match high 61 assists. Emily Gantzkow-Wold (So., Madison, Wis.) had 8 blocks on the night and Shannah Olson and Jen Knudson held up the defense with 24 and 20 digs.
St. Olaf has a first round bye and will play the winner of the Osh Kosh-Marian match at Central College at 5:00 on Friday, November 10. The opening round of the tournament is Thursday, November 9.
The Oles finished the regular season second in the MIAC at 9-2 and are 26-7 on the season. This will be St. Olaf's seventh appearance in the NCAA tournament in the last 11 years.
