St. Olaf Women's Cross Country Second in Regionals

The St. Olaf women's cross country team qualified for the NCAA Championship meet for the 9th straight year this past Saturday at Waverly, IA.

The Oles finished second with 89, behind Luther College's 75 points. Leading the Oles on Saturday was Megan Daymont (FY, Northfield, Minn.) who finished third with a time 18:37. Seniors Katie Milbrett (Forest Lake, Minn) and Anne Sateren (Minneapolis, Minn) finished in 11th and 12th place with times of 19:05 and 19:06. Junior Brigid Franey (Lexington, Ky) was the Oles' fourth runner finishing in 26th place with a 19:26. Daymont, Milbrett, Sateren and Franey were named All- Region for their efforts. Senior Megan Magnall (Waverly, Iowa) ran an outstanding race finishing as the Oles' fifth runner in 37th place with a time of19:47. Rounding out the top seven were first-year Marit Grorud (Freemont, Neb.) and junior Megan Call (Logan, Utah) finishing in 43rd and 57th respectively.

The National meet will be held Saturday, November 18th in Spokane, Washington, hosted by Whitworth College.This is the 11th year since 1986 that a St. Olaf women's cross country team will be competing at the National meet. The Oles finished 4th a year ago and are looking for another top 10 finish.
