St. Olaf College is teaming up with Carleton College and Malt-O-Meal to present a home electronics recycling day for the Northfield community Saturday, March 21.

The three sponsors will be working with Materials Processing Corporation to recycle personal and home electronics equipment from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot south of Carleton's Laird Stadium. The stadium is located just off Highway 19, and signs will be posted to direct traffic.

A fee will be charged for each piece of equipment turned in for recycling. The fee amounts are:

  • $35 for TVs 32 inches or larger
  • $20 for TVs smaller than 32 inches, large printers and large fax machines
  • $10 for computer monitors and microwaves
  • $7 for computer systems, small home printers, small fax machines, stereo equipment, VCRs, DVD players and similar electronics
  • $2 for electronic games, laptops, calculators, portable audio players, iPods, cordless phones and other small electronic devices
A fee will not be charged to turn in cell phones, rechargeable batteries, keyboards and computer mice. This recycling program is not open to businesses.
